MY

EDUCATIONAL

PHILOSOPHY

Why did I choose teaching as my future Profession?

I really enjoy this question because I have so many answers to it! When I was a little girl, I used to sit my brother down in my room or at the kitchen table and I would teach him about things I loved which could have been things as far as horses, skipping ropes, a book I read, etc. He would patiently sit there and listen and let me teach him. As I got older I would teach him more "school things" like Math, Science, English, etc. I was very bossy, that's for sure! He benefitted a lot from those lessons. I loved watching him grow and learn from what I taught him. As I got older I started babysitting and I enjoy spending time with young children. They make me happy and I love how innocent and harmless they are!

What do I believe about my learners and the way they learn?

I believe that everyone learns differently and whether it be my way of teaching them or not, as long as they have ways of understanding it, I don't mind! Every student is knowledgeable and they may have more knowledge in some subject areas than others. Every student is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs, and it is up to me to respect them. Some students have different ways of comprehension in ways that they understand things, and it is up to their imagination and creation to guide them to which they feel content with what they have learned. Some students learn best while collaborating with others and some work best independently. No matter what, I will always teach and help them despite their personal ways of understanding and comprehension. Their opinions and beliefs do not stop me from doing my job!

How do I want to teach?

I will teach effectively with the understanding of students' needs. Every year classes change and I am introduced to new students which means they may have adapted to previous teachers working styles and I have to adapt and work around that. Everyday I may face different situations that could effect my teaching. While situations may arise, the curriculum may also change. I will be a fun and energetic teacher and will incorporate visuals and hands on ways of teaching my students lessons rather than constantly being verbal and informative. By the time I actually get out into the world of teaching, technology may have advanced more from what it is at now which will only better enhance the tools and alternative methods to my teaching. I will make the students feel comfortable around me and their classmates and I will make sure they feel safe in the environment they are learning in. I am not a teacher yet, but once I become one I can't wait to be able to practice and use the methods I truly believe are effective and fun for me and my students!
